Our Area of Work
Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Systems
We promote agricultural systems that improve productivity, strengthen resilience, and support adaptation to climate variability in arid and semi-arid environments. Our work includes climate-smart agriculture practices, dryland farming systems, soil health improvement, farmer field schools, extension services, food systems strengthening, and agricultural value chain development.
Dryland Restoration and Natural Resource Management
CDDRS supports the restoration of degraded landscapes and the sustainable management of natural resources. This includes rangeland restoration, reseeding, watershed management, soil conservation, ecosystem-based adaptation, and biodiversity conservation.
Water Resources and Climate-Resilient Infrastructure
We work to improve sustainable access to water in dryland environments through groundwater development, water access systems, solar-powered boreholes, berkads, sand dams, integrated water resource management, and conflict-sensitive water governance.
Climate and Resilience Programming
CDDRS strengthens the ability of communities to anticipate, absorb, and recover from climate-related shocks. Our work includes disaster risk reduction, early warning–early action systems, climate information services, resilience programming, and anticipatory action.
Livelihoods and Economic Development
We support household income, economic resilience, and inclusive growth through livelihood diversification, youth and women economic empowerment, market systems development, agro-processing, and small enterprise support.
Capacity Development and Institutional Strengthening
CDDRS builds the capacity of farmers, pastoralists, local institutions, NGOs, and government systems through training, extension system strengthening, organizational development, policy advisory services, and technical support.
Technical Services
CDDRS provides specialized consultancy and implementation services, including climate-smart agriculture advisory, rangeland and ecosystem restoration, water resource management, resilience and DRR programming, MEAL systems, institutional development, proposal development, resource mobilization, research, and innovation systems.
