Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Systems

We promote agricultural systems that improve productivity, strengthen resilience, and support adaptation to climate variability in arid and semi-arid environments. Our work includes climate-smart agriculture practices, dryland farming systems, soil health improvement, farmer field schools, extension services, food systems strengthening, and agricultural value chain development.

Dryland Restoration and Natural Resource Management

CDDRS supports the restoration of degraded landscapes and the sustainable management of natural resources. This includes rangeland restoration, reseeding, watershed management, soil conservation, ecosystem-based adaptation, and biodiversity conservation.

Water Resources and Climate-Resilient Infrastructure

We work to improve sustainable access to water in dryland environments through groundwater development, water access systems, solar-powered boreholes, berkads, sand dams, integrated water resource management, and conflict-sensitive water governance.

Seed Systems and Resilient Value Chains

CDDRS strengthens resilient seed systems and agricultural value chains by promoting climate-resilient staple crops—including sorghum, maize, millet, rice, cowpea, and sesame—through quality seed production, market linkages, agribusiness development, and partnerships to enhance food security, resilience, and sustainable livelihoods in Somalia.
